The Babyloians were formed from a collection of roughly twelve city-states and was named for its capital city of Babylon. The Babylonian Empire was a reinvigoration of the sumerian Empire of the city of Ur, who were also settled along the banks of the Fertile Crescent in what can be known today as Southern Iraq.
